With an increase in globalisation, technology has improved, this could be portrayed in a positive or negative way. In my project I will try and represent the negatives of such an advancement in technology through the change in people’s lives. This project will show how our lives have been taken over our smartphones so much that it completely changes the way we do things.
I will focus mostly on social media as it has become an evident problem amongst teenagers and young adults in our society today.
Nowadays we use social media to get our daily news, entertainment and even to shop so it’s not surprising that its taking over our lives.

Face With Logos
For this task I wanted to show that a part of who we are has been affected by social media. This is because many people seek happiness through virtual likes and comments so much that they will physically alter their appearance to increase their likes. I tried to represent this by adding well known social media logos and buttons on a boy’s face. Although most people do not use social media in such a way, the small number of people that do is rising faster than ever.
I took some portraits of my friend and decided to add logos on his face using Photoshop. This image has a strong meaning, however, the editing isn’t very good.

For this task, I went out to the nearest train station and got onto a train. As I went to sit down, i chose a seat opposite people with their phones out and I started recording them without knowing.
