PHOTOGRAPHERS
Michael Wolf
Michael Wolf has amazing pictures of skyscrapers and buildings where the negative space is very minimal.
Michael Wolf creates objective images by taking pictures of skyscrapers with not much negative space in the picture. He might want us to consider the space around us since it is so crowded in the pictures he takes. He is considering the overpopulation issue. This is shown by photographing all the houses crammed all together. Michael wolf was interested in this problem because this is how people live in so he wants us to think about our luck.
FACTS:Michael Wolf was born in Germany and was raised in the United States, Europe, and Canada. He attended the North Toronto Collegiate Institute and the University of California. He started off as a photographer for a german magazine called Stern.
Andreas Gursky
Andreas Gursky has very satisfying pictures of architectue. It is composed by having a landscape and colourful photo and usually in a high point of view which come out in a spectacular way.
Andreas creates objective pictures by taking wide lndscape pictures. This technique makes it ook as if there is more of what is in the picture, he dos this by using a wide lense. "The perspective in many of Gursky’s photographs is drawn from an elevated vantage point. This position enables the viewer to encounter scenes, encompassing both centre and periphery, which are ordinarily beyond reach."
FACTS: Gursky was born in Leipzig, East Germany in 1955. His family relocated to West Germany, moving to Essen and then Düsseldorf by the end of 1957. From 1978 to 1981, he attended Folkwangschule, Essen, where he is said to have studied under Otto Steinert.
Brassai
Brassai creates atmospheric pictures. He does this by taking black and white pictures in the night time. He wanted to make apooky pictures to try and provoke dark thoughts.
FACTS:was a Hungarian and French sculptor, writer, and filmmaker who rose to international fame in France in the 20th century.

NEGATIVE SPACE
- Create a slide show of about 10 images- they do not all have to be successful as long as you explain how you improved your technique.
- Upload your 'best' examples of negative photography.
- Annotate your work. Eg. what ISO did you use, what were the lighting conditions like, what shutter speed did you have your camera on to achieve the best outcome? What went well, even better if...
- What tips would you give to someone about to attempt the similar images.
Negative space is blank space in between or around the picture. This is used to single out an object and draw more attention to it.
RULE OF THIRDS
Rule of thirds is when you divie up the picture usually into thirds. This is used to read the photograph and canbe used to see how much negative space in the picture. The backround is usually dismissed to bring more attention to the object.
Close Up Patterns
We went around the school looking for patterns. Once we found them we zoomed in and took the picture. In order for the picture successful the ISO had to be around 400 and the shutter speed....what?

EBI: The pictures could be straighter.

Framing the Enviroment
We took pictures from inside windows looking out.

For the good, bad and ugly task i had to go around and take pictures of good, ugly or bad objects.
Good:
For good i had to take pictures of good messages, possessions or good moral messages.
Bad:
For bad I had to take pictures of things that should not be there (eg. trash, bad graffiti), trageties or jobs not done well such as graffiti or treehouses not well built.
Ugly:
For the ugly I took pictures of things that should not be where they were such as beer cans hanged up or poop on an angel on top of a grave.

Formal Elements
formal elements link in with the theme of enviroment because they are common to see.
Formal elements are generally accepted as line, tone, pattern, texture, shape, form and colour. In Photography we also refer to focus, depth of field, perspective, scale, balance and composition.

Space
Negative space is the the technique I used for these pictures. This consists in having a lot of empty space around the object being photographed.

For this task I photographed objects with different types of textures. In order for me to photograph the surface had to be different, souch as rough, ruined or bumpy.

I like this picture because it looks rough and ruined but it also looks damp and moist.
Lines
For this task i had to pick pictures which have straight, curved or zig-zag lines which distract the eye.

My 9 favourite Images
For this task i have chosen my 9 favourite images so far and give each one a descriptive word.
Peeling
For this task I went out and chose photos that would represent the 'peeling' adjective.
Contrast
In this task i was required to go out and photograph photos that match with the theme of 'contrast'
Contrast- second attempt
In this task i was required to go out and take pictures that match with the theme of 'contrast'. The subject i chose to photograph suited the theme as there is a very bright background with a dark foreground. I managed my ISO well so that the fore grown was completely black and the background was bright. My images expressed my intention of contrast because there is a very high contrast between the foregrownd and the backround.
EBI: in some of the pictures you can see the models face might not be fully blacked out.
I will improve this by turning down the image brightness.

Photoshop
I lowered the brightness and I increased the contrast.
I did this so that the face would be completely blacked put.

Close up and Far Away
Photoshop
I made my far away and close up picture all in one file.
Edited pair one.
I chose the colour red as my divider because it matched with the leaves on the floor.
